Somali Canadian Society of Calgary Hosts Premier Danielle Smith at Community Centre

The Somali Canadian Society of Calgary recently welcomed the Premier of Alberta, Danielle Smith, to the Somali Community Center for a significant meeting with the East African communities in Calgary. The event saw an impressive turnout, with over 200 members of the East African communities in attendance. The gathering was facilitated by community leaders who ensured a smooth and engaging session.

During the meeting, Premier Smith addressed numerous questions from the community members, providing updates on government priorities and tackling pressing issues such as high unemployment rates within the communities. The Premier’s responses were well-received, highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the East African communities.

The East African community is one of the largest ethnic groups in Calgary, with a steady influx of newcomers from the continent in recent years. The Somali Community expressed their pleasure in hosting such important gatherings, which serve to bridge the gap between the community and the government.

The President of the Somali Canadian Society of Calgary  Abdullahi Aden, emphasized the importance of collaboration with the government to address the challenges faced by the community. The event marked a significant step towards fostering a stronger relationship between the East African communities and the provincial government.
