The Somali Canadian Society of Calgary is proud to celebrate Somali Heritage Week in Alberta, recognizing the rich history, culture, traditions, and contributions of Somali Canadians to our province and country.

Somali Heritage Week is an opportunity to showcase the beauty of Somali culture while promoting understanding, diversity, and inclusion within our communities. As part of this important celebration, SCSC is hosting a variety of cultural and community activities that bring people together, strengthen community connections, and celebrate the values that make Canada a vibrant multicultural nation.

This year, we are excited to host two signature events during Somali Heritage Week:

📅 June 27, 2026 – Somali Heritage Week Cultural Celebration
An evening dedicated to celebrating Somali culture through traditional performances, cultural presentations, community recognition, and the sharing of our rich heritage with the broader community.

📅 July 1, 2026 – Somali Canada Day Family BBQ
A fun-filled family event featuring BBQ, children’s activities, bouncy castles, face painting, games, and community engagement as we celebrate both Somali Heritage Week and Canada Day together.

These events reflect our commitment to preserving Somali culture, empowering future generations, and creating opportunities for cultural exchange and community building. Through these celebrations, we honour our heritage while embracing the diversity and inclusion that define Alberta and Canada.
